John C. Hoard
Career Highlights
John Hoard is a partner with Rubin & Levin, P.C., an Indianapolis law firm concentrating in creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. John is a frequent lecturer and author for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, and is a contributing author to the American Bankruptcy Journal. John has taught seminars in creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, corporate reorganization and tax. During his thirty four year career, John has served as chair to the Indiana State Bar Association Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Section as well as a director and officer for local charitable organizations including a legal clinic, foundation boards and bar committees. He is a Distinguished Fellow with the Indianapolis Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association and American Bar Association.
John’s legal, financial and transactional experience as a lawyer and certified public accountant has allowed him to enjoy work in areas of law and finance related to real estate, utilities, bankruptcy and commercial law. He has participated in successful planning and reorganization of multiple bankruptcy estates in individual and corporate bankruptcies. He has also represented creditor committees in bankruptcies including auto racing, retail, hotels and federally charted banks. John has litigation experience in representing receivers and trustees, and has prosecuted many avoidance actions including Ponzi schemes against frauds. He has also represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service and Indiana Department of Revenue.
In addition to his business and bankruptcy experience, John has participated in complex litigation including civil fraud and cases involving legal and accounting malpractice. John’s appellate experience has brought him before the Indiana Supreme Court as an oral advocate. John graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Speech and received his Juris Doctor from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law where he served as an Associate Editor for the Indiana Law Review.
